GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
You know that Kleenex commercial where a man sees a woman crying in the bus seat beside him and isn't sure whether or not to offer her a tissue?
Hmm. I may be reading too much into it but the spot raises lots of questions for me. First, is she crying because her car's in the shop and she has to take the bus? Or because she'd rather walk to work but it's raining? Or perhaps she missed the first bus and is now going to be late to work?
And why is it always a woman we see crying in these commercials? Hmpf. Is that gal on the bus weeping over the injustice of how women are portrayed in Kleenex commercials? Kidding, Kleenex; totes. Seriously joking, yo.
But the biggest and most important question I have about the series of crying commercials is: why does the person offering the tissue always hesitate? Sigh.
Have we deteriorated so entirely as a society that we don't have natural, genuine empathy for a fellow human in need anymore? Or are we so "politically correct" these days that we are terrified of the response to a public act of compassion? Have we rewritten the rule of common courtesy to one of general apathy toward our fellow peeps? #whereisthelove
Remember what Aesop said...No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. #amenaesop
If I see you crying on the bus, or in the elevator at work, or in the frozen foods section at the market, or coming out of our monthly meeting or on Jupiter ... you better believe I'm going to pat you on the back and make sure you're OK.
Better have the PC police on speed dial; PK's a hugger.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord. For the LORD watches over the way of the just, but the way of the wicked vanishes. Verse Before the Gospel See Lk 8:15 Blessed are they who have kept the word with a generous heart and yield a harvest through perseverance.
