GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
We all do it to varying degrees. Not every day but fairly often. The whole "Why me?" pity party.
It might be due to a rough meeting; a fender bender; a heartbreak or a health setback. It could be a serious concern or something as insignificant as a paper cut between your fingers --- but it seems to be human nature to complain about bad fortune, bad breaks, bad mojo, bad luck or any general bad to befall us, whether accurate or perceived. Hmm.
The reality of the situation is this: life is a gift. It's brimming with far more blessings than curses --- yet it's our natural reaction as humans to focus on what's occasionally wrong as opposed to all that's right with the world every day.
Look around. The sun is shining; spring is just around the corner. You have good, faithful friends and family members in your life. You are privileged beyond what you can even imagine; stop for just a moment and acknowledge that. And send up a little nod of thanks for those regular old ordinary days that are filled with 90% happy.
All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, the fishes of the sea, and whatever swims the paths of the seas. R. O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth! Alleluia Ps 119:36, 29b-R. Alleluia, alleluia. Incline my heart, O God, to your decrees; and favor me with your law.
