I really enjoyed your column regarding Latin. It was one of my favorite subjects in high school (in the 60's) and my teacher, Mrs. Bode, made the classes fun and very relevant. My profession, architecture, requires a certain amount of precise technical writing, and knowing word derivatives has helped immensely. More than anything, however, I have enjoyed the ability to recite a Latin phrase like "anguis in herbis" or "alea iacta est" to describe situations in life when I don't really care if those around me understand. Thanks for writing your great article.
