GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Ah, Valentine's Day. What does it mean to YOU?
To some, it's a magical, coveted day filled with red hearts, decadent chocolates, long-stemmed roses and maybe even an engagement ring? To others, it's a ridiculous, faux "holiday" concocted by the makers and suppliers of greeting cards, candies, teddy bears and various collectibles. Hmm.
Whichever side of the debate finds you, remember that you're likely to fare better than the enemies of Al Capone in that Clark Street garage on Chicago's North Side back in 1929, capisce? Shudder. Either way, Valentine's Day is the perfect time to take note of the importance of keeping your word.
When you consider it, what is the truest measure of caring if not being trustworthy, dependable, honest and true? This is as applicable in romantic relationships as it is in families, friendships and with colleagues. To be the best spouse, parent, child, sibling, pal or coworker you can takes a lot of dedication and compassion and hard work; but it all begins and ends with meaning what you say, following through on your promises and being fair and respectful in word and deed.
So, enjoy your pink and red extravaganzas, all --- and take care to always be true to your beloved...and your word.
Jn 14:23 R. Alleluia, alleluia. Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord; and my Father will love him and we will come to him.
