GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It's funny how old you have to get to understand simple, basic things.

When we're young, we think ourselves oh so very smart. Invincible. Independent. Brave, even.

Knowin grin.

But then, we reach a certain point in life I like to call the Age of Seizin'.

It could happen as early as your 30s or as late as your 50s but it's during the Age of Seizin' that we begin to clearly see some pretty fundamental truths that are invisible in youth.

It is a stage at which we finally start absorbing the core tenets of life; the bare bones of what really matters. In other words, we start getting it, capisce?

For you whipper snappers out there, here's a preview of the type of knowledge kernels that sprout during the Age of Seizin':

-Wishes come true so when you put in requests for neater rooms, quieter nights and fingerprint-free windows -- understand that someday you'll have them...and hate them.
-If you wouldn't do or say it in the front pew of church; skip it.
-It's great to have a nest egg. But it's even better to have a nest to which the peeps keep circling back.
-Work will still be there on Monday but Grandma or Grandpa may not.
-You don't need 8,547 friends; just a handful or even less .. as long as they're the ones who'd lift a car off of you.

-Expensive vacations are terrific...but not solo.
-Blood's not just thicker than water; it's stronger than icebergs.
-Faith, family, health and true friends and greater than riches, properties, stocks, bonds or annuities, you dig?
-You can never hug your parents or children enough. Ever.

But then again, what do I know, eh?

Ps 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14 R. (Isaiah 35:4f) Our God will come to save us! I will hear what God proclaims; the LORD –for he proclaims peace to his people. Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him, glory dwelling in our land. Kindness and truth shall meet; justice and peace shall kiss. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and justice shall look down from heaven. The LORD himself will give his benefits; our land shall yield its increase. Justice shall walk before him, and salvation, along the way of his steps. Alleluia R. Alleluia, alleluia. Behold the king will come, the Lord of the earth, and he himself will lift the yoke of our captivity.
