Be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love ... Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient. So do not be associated with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
I don't have anything brilliant to offer about the horrific tragedy that unfolded in Squirrel Hill, PA (near Pittsburgh) on Saturday morning.
Oh how I wish I did.
Or that I had some superpower for going back in time and stopping such heinous inhumanity. Not only for those lost in that beautiful synagogue but in every situation where innocence has been brutalized and human life has been completely negated in an act of senseless hate. But then, what other type of hate is there?
No, if I really had a superpower, I'd want it to be the ability to make every person here on earth respect the lives of all the rest of them, Capisce?
Like so many, I feel so helpless and sad in the wake of this latest atrocity. I am heartsick; my soul aches.
I pray for all touched by this madness. #LordHearOurPrayer
Friends, as long as we keep praying for peace and standing together as one mankind instead of splintering off into silos of "he/she is too different for me to understand" mentality; there is always hope.
And by God, as sure as the huge Italian nose on my face, LOVE IS NOW AND WILL ALWAYS BE STRONGER THAN HATE. This, I believe.
Ever since Saturday morning, a hymn we used to sing at Mass often when I was a little girl keeps playing in loop mode in my mind. I wanted to share it with you all as I ask you to join me in prayers for the victims in Squirrel Hill...and in every other instance of hate crime. #PrayForPittsburgh #PrayForPeace #JustPray

REFRAIN: Banish fear and ignorance, hunger thirst and pain. Banish hate and poverty; Let no one live in vain. Let no one live in vain.
Keep us all for ever more, one in love and grace, Wipe away all war and strife, Give freedom to each race. (Refrain)
Let Your Justice reign supreme and righteousness be done. Let Goodness rule the Hearts of all and evil be overcome. (Refrain)
