GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It's funny how so many people want to be thought of as "the life of the party."

Sure, everyone likes the fun guy or gal. You know the one; the charismatic storyteller, the hilarious merrymaker, the bubbly drink-provider ... or consumer.

Being entertaining is terrific; commanding a room is truly a gift. But sometimes, we're so busy being captivated by the slight of hand of a magic light show or guffawing at gags or pranks that we forget to appreciate the most important aspects of the event. You know, the hard work that went into planning, preparing for and perfecting the get-together, get it?

In other words, laugh at the charmer spinning witty banter but don't forget that the essence of the party is the gathering itself -- the interaction with the other humans in the room, especially the one responsible for the whole shebang. Someone went to a lot of trouble to organize a lovely celebration. They put a ton of thought and effort into the details of the gala including extending an invitation to you in the first place. It's always nice to let them know you appreciate it, Capisce?

Be happy. Eat. Drink. Be merry --- within reason. But don't forget that it's not so much about being the life of the party as remembering that the real party is life itself.

And overall, it's a pretty nice little shindig --- don't take it for granted.

Mt 8:17 R. Alleluia, alleluia. Christ took away our infirmities and bore our diseases. Gospel Mt 8:1-4 When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said, "Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean." He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, "I will do it. Be made clean." His leprosy was cleansed immediately.
