GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Sometimes, a little fear is a good thing.
Not the kind that is horrifying or stops you cold in your tracks; but a healthy dose of fear. You know, just enough fear of water to not be foolish or reckless in the pool, lake or ocean. Just enough fear of public speaking that your nerves force you right to the top of your game for that crucial presentation. Just enough fear of your parents (and disappointing them) that you make the right decision when faced with precarious choices; especially those involving peer pressure or unnecessary risk taking. This applies no matter how old you or they become, by the way.
We all need to have just enough fear to keep us accountable; to keep us humble; to remind us that there are always consequences for our actions.
Yep, a little fear. Not only a good thing, but just a teeny bit can go an awfully long way ... and point us in the right direction.
Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. The LORD bless you from Zion: may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. R. Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways. Alleluia Col 3:15a, 16a R. Let the peace of Christ control your hearts; let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.
