GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

I've said it before...and while I'm still officially able, I'll say it again: It's a great day to be a Spartan.
You know, my girlfriend Lizzie and I were talking the other day about Boardman High School and how incredibly fabulous it is. Now, naturally, she is an alumnus and both our sons currently attend. #NotObjective
But the truth is: we've got ourselves one very top notch school. BHS has an excellent scholastic rating (annually and for many moons), a widely-acclaimed performing arts center, a marching band that's been in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade almost as often as Snoopy, and oh yes, a pretty awesome little swim and dive team, too.
One so extraordinary that the Ohio High School Athletic Association named our head coach, Terry O'Halloran, the Ohio Division I “Boys Swim Coach of the Year” at the main event this past weekend in Canton.
Maybe it's because he's been doing this for 33 years. Maybe it's because he's led at least one or sometimes several of his swimmers to the state level championship 19 times in those three decades. Maybe it's because he's trained more winners than Vince Lombardi. Well, almost.
Maybe it's because he had a super-duperly, awesome-ful spectacular group representing him at state this year. #AgainNotUnbiased
But really, I think it's because he is the Swim Whisperer. The Yoda of Swim Coaches. The leader of the Dream Team that also includes the remarkable Carlo Cordon and the stupendous Chad DeAngelo.
But, either way, we love ya, Coach O and your Dream Team; we love ya swimmers and divers ... and we love ya, good old BHS.
And those are just some of the reasons I'll miss all this in about three months ... and why, I repeat, it's a great day to be a Spartan.
See Jn 6:63c, 68c Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life; you have the words of everlasting life. Gospel Lk 6:36-38 Jesus said to his disciples: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. "Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."
