Caps Off to Nurses & Teachers, Yo

You may have heard that it's national #NursesWeek from May 6 through May 12, 2018.

Ah, nurses. The most important, crucial and underappreciated professionals this side of teachers. Did I mention that yesterday was also #TeacherAppreciationDay here in the U.S. of A.? Well, it was. #SorryImLateTeacherPals

Perhaps I'm so fond of nurses because I was raised by one. Like, the best one. #ILoveYouMom And maybe I've a penchant for teachers because so many of my family members and closest pals teach. #LoveYouAllTeacherFriends

I do believe that, even if not for all the special people in my life whose professions are one of these two amazingly important, admirable and underappreciated ones; I would still and always have profound respect and great affection for nurses and teachers everywhere.

Trust me, after working in hospital PR for eight years, I'm am acutely aware that your facility is only as strong as your nursing staff. #TheyRunThePlace
Because, with all due respect to fine physicians everywhere (whom I also love), nurses are the backbone of healthcare. Period. I cannot accurately capture in words the depth and breadth of the yoke a nurse bears every single day -- not to mention the verbal abuse they silently withstand from patients and their family members as a standing rule, yo. #HugANurse

As for teachers, anyone who doesn't see the value in these consummate professionals who have the weight of the world on their shoulders (molding young minds, training future leaders, keeping our children bright, sharp and safe five days a week) and so very often, the unfair criticism of disgruntled parents in their faces, well, they are blind, you dig? #HugATeacher

At the end of the day, nurses care for you in body, mind and spirit and teachers care for you intellectually, philosophically and physically. Not since the invention of parenthood have groups of folks been tasked with such great obligation and honor --- for so little recognition and regard.

If you've ever had any type of healthcare service in your life, you should thank a nurse. And if you are reading this, you should thank a teacher. And hey, kissing your Mother on the cheek once in a while wouldn't kill you either, Capsice? Ah, we'll get into that a little more on Sunday. #MothersDay2018

Jn 14:16 R. Alleluia, alleluia. I will ask the Father and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always. Gospel Jn 16:12-15 Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
