And if they don't know; they should. Juneteenth is an important day in these United States because it marks the emancipation of remaining enslaved African-Americans in the Confederacy on June 19, 1865. It should be celebrated; it matters, period. Respect it, honor it. #Juneteenth Here's the thing: every earthling on the third rock should be respecting and honoring every other earthling on the third rock. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. Why is this concept so hard to understand, people? Treat one another well; be kind; love. This is the simplest task and the most important thing a homosapien can do. Duh. It's why we're here; to love one another. It's what the Big Guy taught us, first and foremost. Shoot, He sent his only Son and the Holy Spirit down to help us remember - to save us from ourselves. Step up, y'all. I know that I, for one, can attribute having learned this all-important lesson from my parents way back in the day, Capisce? They gave my siblings and me the gift of Catholic Christian faith; a concept built on, you guessed it, LOVE. And speaking of my folks and love...June 19 is one very special day in my own family for another extremely important reason: it's my Mom's birthday. This beautiful, selfless, super smart, funny, compassionate, and giving woman: my Mother is literally the personification of LOVE. You've no idea how fortunate I feel that I have this incredible reflection of God's love; this absolutely empathetic being; this pure, wonderful soul as my role model. What she's given me, I could never even begin to truly express ... or think of trying to repay. All I can do is try to live up to her amazing example. So, please join me in wishing my Ma Arleen a very happy birthday; so bittersweet this year without Pop. But I know he's watching over her today...and always. #MissYouPop Happy Birthday, Momma! I love you more than words could ever say. #HugYourMom #BeKind #LoveOneAnother #Pray #Peace
