GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Friday the 13th.
I know it's supposed to be terrifying. Horrid things are always predicted for this day/date. BTW, it's not a prediction if someone heard or read it somewhere and used it as a guide, Capsice?
Anyway, it's long been a date that strikes dread in the hearts of many.
I mean, poor little black cats everywhere fear for their very lives every Friday the 13th.
Others have taken a wildly different approach. Hey, Warner Brothers studios has made a rather large fortune on a franchise of horror movies by the very name, no? Ah, superstition. It's such a strange concept because it's based on, you know; um, nothing. If you don't believe me, ask Merriam-Webster, yo:
SUPERSTITION [soo-per-stish-uh n] noun 1. a belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge, in or of the ominous significance of a particular thing, circumstance, occurrence, proceeding, or the like. 2. a system or collection of such beliefs. 3. a custom or act based on such a belief. 4. irrational fear of what is unknown or mysterious, especially in connection with religion. 5. any blindly accepted belief or notion.
Irrational fear. Nuff said.
Look, did you wake up this morning? Are you vertical and able to move about freely in the greatest (albeit a little kerfluey at the moment) country on the globe? Do you have at least one somebody in your world who likes ya, at least a bit? Then guess what...#fridaythe13th is your lucky day.
Besides, there is a real force out there far stronger than any fake panic or weird phobia ... and it's called faith.
So, smile. Go for a walk straight under that ladder, toss the hat on the bed, open that umbrella in the family room and let Blackie the cat zip back in forth in front of you repeatedly. Don't be afraid to get out there and enjoy all 24 hours of today because it's yours for the taking!
Ps 9:2-3, 6 and 16, 8-9 R. (9) The Lord will judge the world with justice. I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, Most High. You rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; their name you blotted out forever and ever. The nations are sunk in the pit they have made; in the snare they set, their foot is caught. But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has set up his throne for judgment. He judges the world with justice; he governs the peoples with equity. Alleluia Jn 12:31b-32 The prince of this world will now be cast out, and when I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all to myself, says the Lord. Gospel Lk 11:15-26 Jesus said "...When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe. But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him, he takes away the armor on which he relied and distributes the spoils. Whoever is not with me is against me,and whoever does not gather with me scatters..."
