GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Sponsored by hbkcpa.com/consultants/joshua-j-zarlenga/ Ah, #PunxsutawneyPhil. Poor little bugger. Every February 2nd, it's the same old story. Get startled awake well before your hibernation ends (typically late March or early April for other woodchucks) by some ridiculously-dressed, Mr. Peanut-looking guys at like, zero dark something. Hey, why are none of the Gobbler's Nob hobnobbers women, BTW? For that matter, as my pal Diane G. and I were discussing earlier, why is it always a "Phil" doing the #GroundhogDay schtick every year? Why no Philomena once in a while, Capisce? I digress. Freeze your little groundhog tail off as thousands of people aim laser beams and one-billion-watt lights at your tiny face. Have the Weather Channel crew scrutinize your every move. Listen to the top-hatters make a claim about whether or not you saw your shadow (when you don't even know what that means) and then have a bazillion people ticked off at you because it's not suddenly spring. What in the? Am I wrong or is this whole deal a little whack-a-mole? #thehumansarecrazy #whyisthisathing Listen, I feel sorry for little Phil, who is actually more scapegoat than groundhog at this point, no? It's a lot of pressure on a whistle pig, yo. Sure, he's got his own Facebook page and Twitter account. Yeah, a movie about his "special day" is a cult classic. Indeed, there is no shortage of hats, coats, mugs, key chains, water bottles and God know how many other tchotchkes and trinkets bearing his likeness. And yeah, people come from all over the country --and I guess the world?-- to catch a glimpse of him every 2.2, I suppose. But can the little guy ever make it through one winter in peace and quiet? No, no he cannot. It's all over for another year, buddy. Duck out of the polka party and head back to sleep. But not before you take a bite out of that dork was was waving you around single-handedly this morning. For that and blaming you for the continuation of winter, he's got it coming. #GroundHogDay2018 #ridiculousness #stoptheinsanity PS 24:7, 8, 9, 10 R. (8) Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord! Lift up, O gates, your lintels; reach up, you ancient portals, that the king of glory may come in! Who is this king of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle. Who is this king of glory? The LORD of hosts; he is the king of glory. Heb 2:14-18 Since the children share in blood and flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abraham;therefore, he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.
