Here we are. Nearly half way into the year. Today is May 25, 2018. Exactly seven months 'til Christmas. HARD GULP.
Do you know what else today is? In no particular order, it is:
–NATIONAL WINE DAY (I know a lot of folks who are gonna be very happy about this tonight. Good thing it falls on a Friday this year!)
–NATIONAL HEAT AWARENESS DAY (But, it's only May, yo?)
–NATIONAL BROWN-BAG-IT DAY (Or as I call it, EVERYDAY.)
–NATIONAL DON’T FRY DAY (Something healthy; well alright!)
–TOWEL DAY (What, like buy them? Recycle them? Wash them?)
–NATIONAL TAP DANCE DAY (Um, yeah, okay, sure? Late May is known for this, obvi.)
This is all according to the NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR. No, seriously. I swear; it is a thing: nationaldaycalendar.com/ Hmm.
While I think it's all well and good and I fully support any celebration the makes people smile, I have to say that it seems to me most of these observations are, well, you know, kind of made up? And so, in the spirit of tossing anything out there I think will stick, I'm adding two important updates to the list:
-NATIONAL SHOW PEOPLE THEY ARE VALUED DAY (I think I'll add this daily until further notice, by the way.)
-NATIONAL HUG YOUR WORK DAUGHTER DAY (Ditto)
Oh and shout out to my pals Lisa and Lori, for whom today is also their birthday. <3
Happy celebrating, y'all!
PS 103:1-2, 3-4, 8-9, 11-12 R. (8a) The Lord is kind and merciful. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all my being, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. He pardons all your iniquities, he heals all your ills. He redeems your life from destruction, he crowns you with kindness and compassion. Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. He will not always chide, nor does he keep his wrath forever. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he put our transgressions from us. Alleluia SEE JN 17:17B, 17A Your word, O Lord, is truth; consecrate us in the truth.
