GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I'm sure it's happened to you at one time or another. It happens to me more often than I prefer.

Actually, I don't prefer for it to happen to me at all. My son and my niece are particularly opposed to it, as well. In fact, it's really rather rude, when you consider it honestly.

I am talking about those occasions on which folks opt to shield you from information, "for your own good." In other words, lies by omission, no? Um, yes, yes it is no matter how much you try to pretty it up or put a bow on that steaming pile.

Major hmph and SMH.

I agree that not all data needs to be shared with all parties at all times under all circumstances. There are exceptions to every rule.

For instance, clearly, children need to be led gingerly into some information, especially if they aren't old or developed enough to process it and/or it may negatively impact them if delivered inappropriately. Ditto the elderly or those in precarious health situations. But, for the majority of us fully-formed and fairly well-adjusted grown ups, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we want in from the beginning, okay? To those who feel the need to "save us from ourselves," and I mean this in the kindest, most respectful way: Knock it off.

Stop being a control freak/information hoarder and tell us the truth, yo. Like, in real time, capisce? Stop taking away my choice to be armed with knowledge by pretending that it's for my own benefit. What benefits me and all adults is to be informed. If news is upsetting, it's upsetting. If I cry, that's okay. If it's extremely scary and I pass out - I'll eventually wake up, ya dig? Much like Tom Cruise's character in "A Few Good Men," I just want the truth; even if you and Jack Nicholson think I can't handle it.

Please and thanks. End of rant. Smiley face.

JN 16:12-15-Jesus said to his disciples, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. “He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”    PHOTO: http://www.moviestillsdb.com/movies/a-few-good-men-i104257/9e372119
