For me, it's just a classic, silly and super fun comedy. Who doesn't adore Reese Witherspoon? And Luke Wilson? Come on. #Adorbs I find it to be hilarious for so many reasons. One of my favorite scenes is the one where Elle, trying to secure an alibi from her client Brooke (a fitness queen wrongly accused of killing her husband), who is behind a glass screen in prison. They are speaking over a phone when Brooke whispers why she can't tell people where she was on the morning of the murder. After many failed attempts at secretly conveying her message by covering the moutpiece of the phone, she shouts "I was having liposuction!" Both gorgeous women gasp at the thought of the world knowing that Brooke's exercise mantra and methodology may be compromised if the truth comes to light. "I've already lost my husband, I'd rather go to jail than to lose my reputation!" she screams in over-exaggerated horror. It's funny because she is, in fact, a fraud --at least in terms of her fitness empire-- yet, ridiculous as she and the scenario is, she absolutely has integrity. That is, according to Merriam Webster's definition of it: 1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility 2 : an unimpaired condition : soundness 3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness I always think of it as how you act when nobody's lookin'. The thing about integrity is, either ya got it or ya don't, Capisce? It isn't always easy to walk that path but in the end, it's the right thing to do every day and twice on Sundays, you dig? Spoiler alert: It worked for Brooke and Elle in "Legally Blonde" --and it's pretty much a happy ending in real life for those displaying integrity, too. Jn 6:51R. Alleluia, alleluia. I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread will live forever. Gospel Jn 6:44-51 Jesus said to the crowds: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me...Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life...I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world."
