GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"I'm fifteen for a moment caught in between ten and twenty and I'm just dreaming, counting the ways to where you are..."

Some of you might recognize this opening line from Five for Fighting's 2004 hit song "A Hundred Years." I cannot hear this song without crying.

I don't mean a single tear down one cheek. I mean full-on, nose-running, mascara-crudding, face-reddening, heaving-and-sobbing, ugly crying. Every time. It hits me "right in the feels" as my teenage son always says. And it's not just because I'm a big old softie; although I've been accused of it.

Rather, it's because the song is a hauntingly beautiful three minute reminder of just how quickly life goes by. How, in the big scheme of things, the span of a human life --even if it lasts 100 years-- isn't really that long.

You know, I have to chuckle every time someone in their 20s calls someone in their 60s old. It's not that their wrong...or right. It's just that age is relative, you see. The closer we get to a chronological number, the younger it is, Capsice? Five for Fighting says it better, I suppose...

"...When you only got hundred years to live half time goes by -- suddenly you're wise another blink of an eye sixty seven is gone-- the sun is getting high we're moving on...I'm ninety nine for a moment, dying for just another moment and I'm just dreaming, counting the ways to where you are...every day's a new day..."

The point is, everything is temporary here on the third rock from the sun, so it kinda matters how we roll ---every single day; know what I mean? Spend your century wisely -- be kind, do good, be well, love, pray and smile! Because, as my Pop always says, "Cent' anni!" or in other words:

"I hope you live 100 years!"

Ps 27:1, 4, 13-14 . (see 4abc) One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.  Alleluia. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The LORD is my life's refuge; of whom should I be afraid? R. One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.  Alleluia. One thing I ask of the LORD this I seek: To dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD and contemplate his temple. I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD. R. One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord. R. Alleluia.Mt 4:4b R.One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
