I keep hearing it.
From variety show hosts to local broadcasters to radio DJs to friends, family members, and neighbors ... the comment (or a version thereof) keeps popping up from both likely and unlikely sources. Some credible, some, eh.
I speak, of course, of the practice of referring to the quarantine and/or the pandemic itself, in the past tense.
Um, hello? Are you still a human with even marginal access to ANY form of communication...er, anywhere on uh, any form of media?
Because, and I mean this in the most gentle and least panic-inducing way but this whole dealio? NOT OVER, PEOPLE!
We still in the thick of it, yo. And NOT the second wave; this is still the first go-round, you dig?
Look, you don't have to rush back out and buy 8,437 rolls of TP or 922 bottles of hand sanitizer. Just keep on keepin' on, a'ight?
Six feet apart. Minimal travel. No groups of more than a handful. Wash your hands. Use your head. Follow state and government guidelines for steps to minimize risk. If you're in a particularly hazardous group, take extra precautions.
Calmly go about your everyday life, just while adhering STANDARD PANDEMIC PRACTICES. That's it. No one is trying to take away your mobility, voice, or independence. Honest. For reals.
The sun's still shining. It's still summer. Fireflies are still firin' and flyin'. We're still moving forward professionally and personally ... just with a heightened awareness that the curve is clearly not flat, okay? Okay. Enough said.
Oh, except for this parting thought, if I may? WEAR YOUR FLIPPITY FLIPPING MASK, Capsice?
