Sponsor: hbkswealth.com/staff/anthony-j-scrocco/ Jn 6:40 Everyone who believes in the Son has eternal life, and I shall raise him up on the last day, says the Lord.People are strange, when you're a stranger. Faces look ugly when you're alone. Women seem wicked when you're unwanted. Streets are uneven when you're down. When you're strange, faces come out of the rain. When you're strange, no one remembers your name. When you're strange. It might not seems so from these particular song lyrics, but their main author, Jim Morrison, was actually brilliant by any standards. Ah yes, Jim Morrison. I went through a whole phase of infatuation with him in my early 20s. Mind you, it wasn't as completely over the top as my obsession for Robert Downey, Jr. (still in full swing, BTW) or my incredible captivation with James Dean (still there, but has waned over time). But still, I had a healthy little crush on The Doors' hunky lead singer. Did you know that he had an IQ of 149? That's smarter than your average bear...or lion or tiger or human, yo. At an Intelligence Quotient of 140, folks are considered genius level, just in case you had forgotten. But the thing is, as many people who loved this singer, songwriter, poet, vagabond, reckless, sexy, rebellious, big-brained free spirit, so too were those who thought very little of him. Many disparaged him as unseemly, depraved, even mad. Maybe he was a little bit of all those things. But the point is, he had gifts to offer the world; many, in fact. And, through a series of bad choices, he cut short the opportunity to keep giving them. His is a sad, tragic story, really. One that could have had such a happy ending if, perhaps, he focused some of that gray matter in a a more positive direction rather killing his brain cells with all that alcohol and those many drugs. Just sayin'. #PartyLess #PrayMore Yet, even in his short 27-year stint on the third rock, he proved that, if you believe in yourself and follow your own passions, you can successfully ignore your critics and make your mark. His whole life seemed to scream: Don't listen to those determined to break your spirit. He sure wasn't perfect and clearly was no role model in many aspects. I'm not saying I want my son to be the next Jim Morrison, for heaven's sake. But I do want him to follow his dreams, no matter what those strange people out there have to say, you dig? #BelieveInYourself #Pray #Peace
