GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
You know that "Keep Calm and Carry On" saying that's been shamelessly plagiarized by about a half a bazillion people around the world? Of course you do.
I think most people also realize that the original phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On" was the theme of a poster campaign created by the British government in 1939 in preparation for World War II. It was supposed to inspire Brits to be brave in the face of the very real threat of massive air raids on major cities in England.
Put into its historical perspective, I'm sort of a little irritated about how we all (and I'm just as guilty as anyone) have kind of bastardized and mutated the very important message belying this saying.
Bottom line is: you may be irked at your significant other or offspring. Your office mate may be stepping on your very last, very raw nerve. Your favorite team might have blown a big game. An old friend may have hurt you deeply with his words. Then again, it might just be another cloudy, dreary Monday.
Guess what? There are real problems here on the third rock from the sun -- and my little whiny complaints are not among them, capisce?
So, suck it up, Patty ---and anyone else who may be having a little self pity party this morning--- and be glad for all you have; not preoccupied with all those tiny irritations that don't matter one iota in the big picture.
Because said big picture is actually a work of art...but you can only see that if you take the time to focus on it.
So remember: someone else can only ruin your morning, day, week, month, year or lifetime if you allow them. So just smile and say, "Not today!"
Keep Calm and Rock On, all! #believeinyourself #mondaymotivation
