We all know him.

You know, that guy who thinks his cold is pneumonia. Relax, bro. Sometimes...indeed, most times...a cold is just a cold.

He is the one who is convinced his nausea is the result of some rare type of airborne malady that will cause irreparable damage to his windpipe.

Um, it's probably just the under-cooked burger you wolfed down at lunch, dude. Topping it off with a humongous basket of curly fries AND a side of the hot asparagus dip and pitas likely didn't help. Just sayin'.

This is the same person who schedules appointment after appointment with specialist upon specialist only to be assured, each time....

THAT HE IS PERFECTLY FINE.

Now, on the one hand, fretting that you have every malady to ever be discovered in modern medicine certainly isn't the worst offense by a human on planet earth. It's fairly harmless as infractions go, really, if not exceedingly more annoying over time.

On the other hand, it tends to irk the homosapiens dealing with, you know, real health issues or life crises. A little perspective, maybe? Hmm.

But the fact is, we are all struggling with a little somethin' somethin'. Or maybe a big'n.

Whether it's an unexpected loss, an anticipated one -- a long road to recovery, a terrifying diagnosis -- or even excessive anxiety that manifests in the form of hypochondria, we all got stuff, you dig? We need to be patient with one another.

So, the next time that fella dials 9-1-1 for a case of the hiccups; fight the urge to scare them out of him with a machete.

Stop. Breathe. Focus. Tell him everything's okay...and then show him that it is, Capisce?  #Empathy #Kindness #Compassion #Pray #Peace
