Jn 1: ...(John) said: "I am the voice of one crying out in the desert, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said." Some Pharisees ...also... asked him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?" John answered them, "I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize, the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie." This happened in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

New Year, New You. Hmm. Not buying it.

Not because I don't believe that a whole honkin' bunch of humans don't have the very best intentions to make positive changes in their lives every January 2nd. Let's face it, January 1st is the quintessential, universal cheat day, ironically. I digress

No, I actually do believe the earthlings who say they want to change. Shoot, I'm one of them. But January or November or April or any old time is a good one to do what's best --- why wait for New Year's to start?

Besides, resolutions alone are just trays of tap water. Could it possibly be that some of you don't understand the analogy?

You know how you fill  ice cube trays from the kitchen faucet, set them down on the kitchen counter so the water can level off, and then place them in the freezer? If you don't, you must be under 21, so don't order any umbrella drinks with your ice. you dig?

Either way. Resolutions, promises, vows, commitments, declarations and pledges to noble causes  ---  these are all fine concepts. But they don't firm up into something substantial until you take the trays off the kitchen counter and place them in the freezer, people. #PutYourMoneyWhereYourMouthIs

Look, I get it. It isn't easy, being the water that's brave enough to dive into the freezer and get strong. It's scary to break a habit or change a behavior that has become routine; especially those we use to cope with stress or hurt or anger or sadness, right? We've all got our stuff, folks. But I think it's silly for any of us to say a certain date is the only catalyst to make a positive life change, that's all.

New Year? Yes. New you? Nah, just new ways to make this big round ball a better place for ourselves and those around us. Every single day on earth is a gift; and a chance to make those trips around the sun time well spent, Capisce?        #GetHealthy #BeKind #HaveFaith #NeverStopTrying
