GRATEFUL GIRL’S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
December 30. Kind of a forgotten little day isn’t it?

Between all the grandeur of Christmas and the impending excitement of New Year’s Eve...well, December 30 is sort of the Rodney Dangerfield of the holiday season, no?

It’s not officially a holiday — it’s too far from Christmas and not close enough to New Year’s to be spectacular. It’s a rather ordinary day during an otherwise extraordinary time. Poor little December 30....no respect, I tell ya.

It’s the last real day of an extended holiday vacation for many. You can’t really count New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, after all.

Lots of folks will spend it shopping for meals for the next few days. Others will squeeze in some shopping of different types: for clothing, home goods or even cars. Some of us may even catch a matinee.

Heck, you might just decide it’s best to stay on the couch and binge watch TV all day today; or take a nap...or two.

But the point is, whether the calendar is at the super shiny beginning or the bitter end...every day is a blessing; a gift. Even little old December 30, which, by the way, is certainly a special day for anyone who was born on this date. #happybirthday

So make sure you enjoy today, all of it — every today.

And maybe, just maybe take a moment to thank the Giver every now and again, Capisce?

Ps 96:7-8a, 8b-9, 10 R. (11a) Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice! Give to the LORD, you families of nations, give to the LORD glory and praise; give to the LORD the glory due his name! Bring gifts, and enter his courts; worship the LORD in holy attire. Tremble before him, all the earth. Say among the nations: The LORD is king. He has made the world firm, not to be moved; he governs the peoples with equity. R. Alleluia, alleluia. A holy day has dawned upon us. Come, you nations, and adore the Lord. Today a great light has come upon the earth.
