Lk 21:36 Be vigilant at all times and pray, that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.
Oh the things about which we humans will whine.
"It's so cold in my office I have to wear a sweater."
"This steering wheel is too hot to touch because my car's been sitting in the sun!'
"It's supposed to rain ALL weekend."
"My acrylic nail broke off and I JUST got this manicure!"
"It's time for another oil change already; those are such a rip off!"
"I hate my new assignment at work...I want to go back to the old one."
"My kid went away to college and I'm so sad."
"I didn't sleep well last night and I'm tired. I think I need a new pillow for my neck."
"That truck totally just cut me off; what a jerk!"
Oh, by the by, I'm clearly as guilty as anyone. Hmm.
Sounds like a lot of us have some pretty first-world problems, Capisce? If you have a reliable car with low oil as its only maintenance issue, a good job that not only provides A/C in the summer but weekends off, can afford to have your fingernails bathed, trimmed and painted by another human, are fortunate enough to have a kid so smart that he's pursuing higher education, and arrived safely at your destination today...SHUT UP.
Seriously. Zip it, people. [This means YOU, especially, pk!]
And while we are being still for a moment, let's close our eyes and truly reflect on the fact that many, many folks ALL OVER THE WORLD (and maybe just down the block) are struggling to breathe, to survive a disaster, to choke back a panic attack, to secure employment - or maybe even get a hot meal for themselves and their children. Ya get it?
Now...let's try this again.
"The sun is shining, I'm healthy, safe and surrounded by loved ones. Man today is super awesome....and I am way too BLESSED to ruin it complaining!"
