GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I hate screwing up; I really do. Like, a whole heaping bunch. Then again, who doesn't, I suppose?
But, for those of us who are compulsive people pleasers, the sheer thought of disappointing someone leads to incessant self-loathing. #madatmyself
Whether it's an error at work, a misspoken word with a pal or, worst of all, letting down my son, parents, husband or other family members in some way, it's very VERY difficult for me to forgive myself when I make a mistake. Ugh.
Ironic, really, when you consider how easily I can buoy and console someone else in the wake of their own misstep. Sigh.
The point is trite but true: only those who never take a chance, make a move or work hard do not err. And none of them painted the Mona Lisa, ya dig?
So, stop beating yourself up. Made a mistake? Turn it into a learning moment. Forgive yourself and move forward. You deserve another chance from ... you.
Jesus said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”
