GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
There is this person in my life. Let's call him, um, Stephen Curry. NOTE: I don't care for Steph, but this truly is about someone I know in real life.
Anyway, Steph isn't, how do you say? My favorite fellow human being.
For starters, his name is Stephen, but he pronounces it STEFF-in. Okay, maybe that wasn't his call; I'll let that one slide.
But, he is absolutely to blame for that smug arrogance he struts around exhibiting. I don't care if he is an amazing point guard who is arguably the best three-point shooter on the planet right now. He may be expeditious, capable and very valuable to his team, but that doesn't mean he should treat the supporting staff and most of the fans so abysmally, ya dig?
Hey, "Steph," You're a big deal. A high producer. A superstar to the head honchos in the front office. We all get it. But you know what would make it that much more impressive? If you let somebody else say how wonderful you are; opposed to hearing it from you all the time. Also, showing a little common courtesy to those you deem your personal assistants (a/k/a everyone you encounter) might not kill you, yo.
Either way, "Steph" ain't my #1 dude. And yet, I know he's probably got some good qualities deep down in there ... somewhere ... if I dig long, hard and deep enough. I mean, if nothing else, he is clearly dedicated to his job. He works hard and gets results.
So, I will try really, really hard to, well, if not love, at least not despise him. Why? 'Cause it's easy for me to love LeBron, yo. He's my main man. But it's harder for me to have any good feels about the guy who acts like such a such a spoiled baby most of the time --- including sucking on his mouth guard like the over-sized pacifier it really is. Okay, that was a cheap shot. Deep breath.
Point is; it is way simple for us to love our closest peeps and those who treat us well. #nobrainer It's a whole other challenge for us to embrace those who cut us off, hang up on us and just generally treat us like we don't matter at all in the world.
But, believe me "Steph," every time we cross paths and I don't throat punch you is my concerted attempt to find the good in you. #givemestrength
Some days I have to count to 1,000 instead of 10 --- but I'll keep trying; even when you're a big rotten stupid head. #loveyourneighbor
Alleluia. The LORD gives sight to the blind. The LORD raises up those who were bowed down; the LORD loves the just. The LORD protects strangers. R. Praise the Lord, my soul! Jn 13:34 - I give you a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you. R. Alleluia, alleluia. Gospel Mt 5:43-48- Jesus said to his disciples: "You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust..."
