GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Have you ever noticed how you can go for days on end without having a special event or function to attend ... only to discover you've been invited (or summonsed) to about 67 all in the same day? It never fails.

Nothing for like, a month and them BLAM! Four graduation parties, free tickets to the symphony, a baby brunch and your kid's make up soccer game all land on the same day. So does your company picnic, BTW. And all between the hours of 1PM and 8PM.  Gulp.

And they're all very important occasions; as are the people who requested your presence at them. And you try to figure out how you can do all 67. And you can't. And you want to clone yourself so you won't let anyone down.

Sigh.

The truth of the matter is, of course, that we humans can only be in one place at a time. We can only give our full effort and attention to one person or entity/event in a given moment --or string of them. Man!

Breathe. Concentrate. And follow this easy pattern for dealing with multiple same day invitations:

1. Explain to the other 66 inviters how incredibly grateful you are to have been thought of and that you genuinely want to be there to support their cause, event, big day, etc. but that you are, unfortunately, overextended that day.

2. Send your warmest wishes, a beautiful card and a bottle of the finest bubbly money can buy (or similar appropriate gift) to the folks whom you'll be missing.

3. Forgive yourself for not being able to be 3-D printed so you can magically appear in a myriad of places simlutaneously. You're a person; one person.

4. Go to your kid's soccer game, yo.

Rv 1:5ab- Jesus Christ, you are the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, you have loved us and freed us from our sins by your Blood. R. Alleluia, alleluia. Gospel Jn 13:16-20 -When Jesus  said to them: "Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him... Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."
