GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I'm not sure who coined the phrase "Giving it the old college try." Some say it's attributable to a Columbus, Ohio newspaper reporter circa 1927 and that it's often associated with grandstanding before a crowd, especially in baseball ala Babe Ruth.

Others credit a 1960's era U.S. general with using the phrase to encourage his troops to give an effort their all. I like to think of it more as Rocky Balboa-ing your way along life's path. #rockyrocks

Either way, it's typically associated with putting forth one's most ardent attempt to be victorious in an endeavor. I guess it's sort of a precursor to concepts such as "Going all in" or to "Go big or go home."

Well, folks, I gave it the old college try today. I had every intention of not letting the stressors of the day reduce me to tears or cussing or self-pity. Guess what? It was a TKO in the 10th.  #epicfail #imawhinybaby

Some days just suck eggs, you know? And on a day like that, you just have to stop, step back for a moment and accept that you're not the Heavyweight Champion of the World. At least, not today.

Crud.

But the good news is, tomorrow's a whole new chance to get back in the ring and start swingin'.

Yep, tomorrow's definitely going to be a comeback day for old pk.  Watch out, Clubber Lang.

Wink.

Eph 4:1-7, 11-13 Brothers and sisters: I, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace: one Body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift..."
