Taking a Holiday...from Reality

GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
It's funny, isn't it, how the week between Christmas and New Year's is just completely out of whack but in a wonderful way?

#stillclingingtothehappiestseasonofall

Especially this year, since Christmas fell on a Monday and most of civilization seems to have had that day and Tuesday off, I'm completely thrown  by what day of the week it actually is. #feelslikemonday

Soon, I'll be writing the wrong year on everything as well but I digress.

Despite it wreaking havoc with my date-meter, I love this week of the year.  Everyone is still in the holiday spirit. The work hours are shorter and more pleasant than usual.

Folks are still enjoying out-of-town visitors and lavishing in their new smart phones, TVs, jewelry, recliners, or fill-in-the-blank for the favorite gift(s) they received.

Stores have slashed prices and are offloading items at a fraction of what they cost three days ago. I know this is off-putting to those who paid full price for said things three days ago but if you waited to buy that new stove until now, you're sitting pretty, you dig?

Cookies are still swirling around everywhere; parties continue to be held nightly; movies are being viewed and board games are being played by family and friends at an astonishing rate. Besties are exchanging gifts, hugs, and cheer.

Some folks are actually literally basking in the sun of winter vacations on beaches. #luckysonsofguns

Yep, whether you're spending this week doing super-fun stuff you only get to do at holiday time (including nothing at all for days on end!) or just soaking up all that good will still hanging in the air; this week is a nice little vacation from reality. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

Ps 97:1-2, 5-6, 11-12 R. (12) Rejoice in the Lord, you just! The LORD is king; let the earth rejoice; let the many isles be glad. Clouds and darkness are around him, justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne. The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the LORD of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his justice, and all peoples see his glory. Light dawns for the just; and gladness, for the upright of heart. Be glad in the LORD, you just, and give thanks to his holy name. R. Alleluia, alleluia. We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as Lord; the glorious company of Apostles praise you.
