GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The high road. Kind of a lonely street sometimes, isn't it? Especially when those around you are burrowing to the center of the earth, you dig?
I feel ya. There are days when, through no fault of your own, you find yourself on the receiving end of a whole lot of blech. Someone's short fuse; quick temper; random rant.
Maybe you crossed path with someone just as they got bad news --or started feeling ill --or had a spat with a spouse ... or stepped on a thumbtack.
And out of nowhere BAM! You were taking more fire than a hula dancer at a luau.
Either way, screaming back is rarely your best option when you're catching flack.
Instead summons up all your upper body strength, reach up and climb the ladder to the high road. It's steep and narrow and twisty and lonely; but you can make it if you really try.
Besides, the air and the view are always better from up there, yo.
Mt 5:12a R. Alleluia, alleluia. Rejoice and be glad; for your reward will be great in heaven. Gospel Mt 5:1-12 When Jesus saw the crowds, he ...began to teach them, saying: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me..." '
