I've been called a lot of things in the past half-century.
The best? Mom. The worst? Hmm. I would have to give that serious thought...and it would be painful.
I suppose 'disloyal' might be near the top of that hopefully short list. #TotesNotTrue #FaithfulAsTheDayIsLong #AskMyFam
It's only through the process of becoming a little older that you begin to realize someone else's opinions about and labels of you are just that...THEIRS. Often, they have a lot more to do with how they feel about themselves than what they think of you, specifically.
That being said, sometimes people ARE verbalizing their perception of you: fair or not; good or bad; spot on, dead wrong or somewhere in between. And that's okay because it's their right to think and feel what they will.
In no particular order, here are some things that have been said about me, either to my person or to someone who knows and actually does like me enough to tell me...
"She's like TOO nice, you know?" Um, not really since I think there is no such thing.
"Her laugh is annoying." I'm a snort-and-chortle giggler so, fair enough.
"Her writing is OK. It's just that it's not very professional." Well, I do get paid to write, predominantly, and have for decades across several mediums so, I'd confidently challenge this one. And BT Dubs, I have flexibility in my style, ask any of my former or current editors. Besides, I believe it's fair to say that by now I can find my way around a phrase or two -- both casually and in a business voice, thank you very much. #Hmpf
"She seems kind but doesn't really let herself speak freely. She's guarded." Now, there's probably some truth in this observation. Okay, more than some...
"I like her blog, but it's just TOO faith-based for me." What now? Please see reaction to first comment. #GodRocks
All I know is, this little old blog certainly does seem to be resonating with lots of folks in a positive way, which is its very intent, so I may be doing SOMETHING right, after all?
At the end of the day, you know who you are and what you believe; don't let someone else's opinion change either.
The Big Guy's there for you...so's PK. And I'm pretty sure we both want you to believe that...and in yourself, Capisce?
