GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I ... watch ... The Real Housewives of -- um, almost everywhere.
NOTE: For those who may be unfamiliar, "Real Housewives" is an allegedly unscripted reality show (on the Bravo television network) following the shenanigans of some of the richest, most beautiful women to live in some of the hippest, most fabulous and luxurious homes in some of the greatest cities in the U.S. The franchise was started by Andy Cohen in 2006 with a group of gals in Orange County and has expanded to include about nine or 10 site locations.
And I tune in for just about all of them. Except the ladies of the Potomac. For some reason, that one's not really of any interest to me? I don't think I watched too many of the ones based in Miami or Dallas, either and I'm even sure those latter two still air.
But the crazy California girls in the OC and Beverly Hills, those wild peaches down in Atlanta, the table flippers in Jersey and my personal faves, the uptown chic chicks of New York City? Oh yeah, I'm all about them. I didn't say I was proud of it, OK?
But watch I do... and laugh...and cuss...and cringe. Because these women are not only poster children of what NOT to treasure as the most important things in life but most of them also seem to be some of the worst girlfriends I could ever imagine having. #backstabbers
I mean, if one of these gals turns up in your circle, you better hide your valuables ... and your husband, too. #barracudas
The thing that amazes me most about these women, and I know I'm unfairly lumping them all into the same bucket 'o selfishness, is that they are some of the most ardent revisionists I've ever seen. As in, for most of them, lying is a national sport. But the funniest part is: they are being videotaped nearly all the time. Their words and actions are literally being recorded, hence the entire preface of the show. So guess what? There's no denying them during the playback ladies --- and I use that term loosely for some of you.
And yet, deny they do. Like all of their misdeeds. All the time. Then, at the end of the seasons, on the reunion shows, their untruths and ill will and scheming and conniving and manipulation are revealed by the irrefutable accuracy of the video footage. Well, duh.
I find it all at once hilarious and a metaphor for this crazy journey we call life.
In the end, what you said and did; how you conducted yourself and treated others; what you took and gave; how you helped --or hindered-- will all come back to you. What will your video look like?
Be kind, do good. Hugs not hate, yo.
P.S. Ramona Singer, you are not nice. #teambethenny
Ps 103:1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8, 10 R. (cf. 17) The Lord's kindness is everlasting to those who fear him. Bless the LORD, O my soul; all my being, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and forget not all his benefits. He pardons all your iniquities, heals all your ills. He redeems your life from destruction, crowns you with kindness and compassion. Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. Not according to our sins does he deal with us, nor does he requite us according to our crimes. Reading 2 1 Jn 4:7-16 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. Alleluia Mt 11:29ab Take my yoke upon you, says the Lord; and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart. PHOTO:
