GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I know it's April Fool's Day but I've got a message for you from my friend Brian Duchon over at the local branch of the American Heart Association --- no kidding. He wanted me to tell you all that Wednesday is National Walking Day. As the daughter of a heart disease survivor and a runner/jogger myself, I'm all over this one. You will find his letter below; please consider getting up and getting moving at lunchtime Wednesday ... and, you know, every Wednesday.

Friend of Heart,
Each April the American Heart Association celebrates physical activity and encourages all Americans to commit to leading a more active lifestyle. It’s easy to start. Walking is a great and low-risk way to scientifically reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. That is why we are inviting you to join us on Wednesday, April 5th 2017 as the Tri County America Heart Association steps up to improve the heart health of the Mahoning Valley.

Walk with us on Wednesday, April 5th from 12 to 12:30 pm at the Mill Creek Metro Parks East Golf Hike & Bike Trail (meet near the golf course trail entrance) for a 1.5 mile walk along a paved and accessible wooded trail. Can’t get away? Plan a walk at your place of work and encourage your co-workers to take the first step to improving their heart health. Just be sure to…
1. Get a group. It’s more fun than walking alone.
2. Snap a pic. It’s always nice to share on social media #WalkingDay
3. Make the pledge. Commit to a year of health at www.heart.org/healthyforgood

It’s that easy! Interested in more tools and tips to help you get started? Check out the National Walking Day website and toolkit online at www.heart.org/nationalwalkingday. We thank you for joining us in the fight against cardiovascular disease and stroke. For more information on how you can bring the American Heart Association to your organization please contact Brian Duchon at brian.duchon@heart.org or by phone at 330-318-1002.

Sincerely,
Brian D. Duchon, MPA, Metro Executive Director - Tri-County American Heart Association
