GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Then just yell Mom. Loud. Preferably with just a twinge of terror in your tone. Because nothing makes a woman's head snap around faster or heart plummet quicker than thinking her little one needs her in a crowd. Try it sometime kids; never fails. I'm pretty sure Dads will answer the call made to them, as well, just a little more casually. You know, Dad will be like, "Hmm? Huh? What's up buddy? Oh, you skinned your knee; okay. No big, just calm down now, shake it off." And Moms be like "Blood, there's blood. I'm rushing you to the nearest urgent care. There could be MRSA somewhere nearby; that could have been rust on that gate you gashed your leg into...we are going to get you a tetanus shot and then see the finest plastic surgeon about scarring. Don't you worry, sweetheart; everything is FINE," as we safety belt your bottom into the car and head quickly but carefully to the nearest medical facility. Either way, the point is this: we all know the call of a loved one, don't we? I could pick the voice of my son, hubby, Mom, Dad, sister, brother, niece, nephew, BFF -alright you get it- out of a crowd of a gazillion. In the middle of a Motley Crue concert. In Central Park. During a hailstorm. And when someone you love needs you; you drop what you're doing and help. Because, like my Pop always says, "You don't have to ask. You need anything, you just dial M for ...." well, my maiden name but let's just say ME. Because family (and this includes all your closest peeps regardless of DNA shared) does for family. Period. Always, every time. No questions asked. Ps 116:12-13, 15 and 16bc, 17-18 R. (13) I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord. How shall I make a return to the LORD for all the good he has done for me? The cup of salvation I will take up, and I will call upon the name of the LORD. Jn 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord. I know them and they follow Me.
