GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Sponsored by hbkcpa.com/consultants/melissa-crowley/ Well, there's no getting around it. In most parts of these United States, it's pretty darned cold. Even in my beloved sunny FL, yo. For some of us, it's so cold that many schools, care centers, churches, non-profit organizations and small businesses are opening very slowly these last few days. #dreadedtwohourdelay In fact, I was talking with my buddy Rex earlier and he told me that in his hometown of Indianapolis it was literally colder there yesterday than it was in the South Pole. Seriously. Here's how a local newspaper in Indy worded it: "At 7 a.m., the temperature at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica was -11 degrees. Around the same time in Indianapolis, the temperature was -12, matching a Jan. 2 record set in 1887. So it was actually colder in Indianapolis than at the South Pole on Tuesday." BRRRRRRRRRRR. Now, for winter haters like Rex and me, this is really just salt in an open pot hole --- I mean, wound. In fact, the whole colder than crap situation we find ourselves in this January is making it mighty difficult for old PK to stick to her not cussin' in the New Year vow, Capsice? #@*&%^$_! Ahem. So, I thought really, really hard of some benefits of this extreme cold. This is what I could muster: -No need to fill the ice cube tray. -The soundtrack to "Frozen" is meaningful on a whole new level. -A great excuse to buy new hats, scarves, gloves and boots, yo. -Not one mosquito in sight. -You can use your entire garage as a freezer. -Leg and underarm hair seems to be growing at a much slower pace? (one for the gals!) -Hiding a bad hair day under a cap or hat is now completely acceptable. Stay warm and happy third day of 2018, all! #cold #winter #frozen #brrrrrrrrr Jn 1:14a, 12a R. Alleluia, alleluia. The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us. To those who accepted him he gave power to become the children of God. Gospel Jn 1:29-34 John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world ... I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him. I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God."
