GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
There are those moments of doubt. Those lowly little passing thoughts that skip through our minds from time to time with their ill-intentions. You know, the "poor me" inner rants: "I swear, I can't do anything right!" "Why do I even bother?" "No one cares."
And just when you're down and sad, a ray of hope. Take for instance, what happened just the other day: I was feeling a bit frumpy and unkempt but still let my husband talk me into going out in public...where I was promptly carded. "Me?" I said incredulously to the gentleman who'd asked to see my Driver's License to be sure I was 21 years old. And as I gleefully dug through my wallet thinking "Wow; what a miracle! Someone thinks I look YOUNG!" the man slipped his bifocals on, took a good hard look at my face and said, "Oh, gosh, no, I'm sorry; you're good." Hmpf.
The good Lord giveth and the good Lord taketh away. Not missing a beat to try and cheer me after seeing my old face fall, the other doorman beside him quipped, "Are you kidding? This girl's barely legal...let's see that ID, Missy!" as he winked and smiled at me. Overcome by both comments, I did the only thing I could: I laughed until my 48-year-old, wrinkled face hurt.
Listen, when your inner voice is giving you crud; you just tell it to take a powder. There is always, always someone out there who loves you. Even if they don't say it often enough. Even if, in the rush of daily life, they take for granted that you just know. Even if you can't see Him. Take heart; somebody cares.
And just in case no one else mentions it today; you are fabulous!
Psalm PS 95:6-7c, 8-9, 10-11 - R. (8) If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the LORD who made us. For he is our God, and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides. Alleluia Mt 4:23 - Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom and cured every disease among the people.
