Have you ever wondered what a baby is thinking as you watch him sleep?
I haven't for a very long time...since my baby is in college these days. #SlowDownTime
But, last Saturday, as I held my newest great nephew Spencer, I was mesmerized by his beautiful little expression-filled face as he slept in my arms.
Fine, I was being a bit of a baby hog, sue me.
It's just that, when your child is long past infant phase, you kind of forget.
You forget the baby smells (the good ones: the baby laundry detergents and fabric softeners, the baby lotions, the baby soaps and shampoos).
You forget the baby sounds (the good ones: the cooing, the suckling, the full-belly sighing).
You forget the baby faces (the good ones: the yawning, the inadvertent smiling, the seemingly focused concentration, the following your finger).
Heck, you forget just how tiny they are right at first. Sigh.
And as I sat wondering what was going through little Spencer's baby brain as he slept (When is my next meal? Where the heck am I now; it's so cold and loud and bright? Who is the weird old lady staring my face off?), I remembered something very important.
Every moment of a new baby's life is precious.
And a five-year-old's.
And a 19-year-old's.
And a 42-year-old's.
And a 97-year-old's. You're getting the idea, yes?
All life is precious. Every little bit. It's all a miracle and a blessing, Capisce? #LoveYourLife #LoveYourFam #BeGrateful #Pray
