GRATEFUL GIRL'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
We're approaching that fateful day in the year when we all take a vow...to ourselves and everyone within earshot. I refer, of course, to the ever-popular, well-meaning and destined-for-failure tradition of making a New Year's Resolution. Hmm, sigh and major hmpfity hmpf all over the place. Not to be a naysayer here but NAY I say. And I only say nay because I think we all tend to overshoot the basket on this one, capisce? I am all for trying to improve oneself; heaven knows I need to work on about 4,573 little quirks and imperfections ala Patty. But the point is, if we promise to lose 30 pounds, workout seven days a week, go back to school, save 50% more money than last year AND find a solution for peace in the Middle East; heck, we may just fall a little short of one or two or all of these goals, no?
Yes. Instead; I propose a New Year's daily evolution. Let's all agree that it's easier to tackle a challenge one day at a time than annually. I say: start 2017 with a quiet, personal pledge to do our best to make each day better for someone around us; thereby making life better for ourselves. Giving up vices is always a good idea. Giving to others out of the goodness of your heart? #bestideaever
Reading 1 1 Jn 1:5–2:2 - Beloved: This is the message that we have heard from Jesus Christ and proclaim to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin.
